Lovely “Surrea” vase by Wilhelm Kåge, with a plump, skewed form. Glazed with white carrara glaze. Very cool shadow effect.
The “Surrea” stoneware series was first introduced in 1940, inspired by purism and the work of Le Corbusier. It challenged the aesthetic ideals of the time and received both praise and critique. With time however, it became a Swedish stoneware classic.
