Art Noveau Desk by Carl Westman

Stained pine desk by Carl Westman, made in Art Noveau style with bold, flowing lines and details. Shelves on the sides, three drawers with cast iron keyhole plates. Heavy patina including paint stains, the desk has likely been used by an artist.

Made for a private Stockholm residence, drawings of the desk and other pieces from the same suite can be found at Nationalmuseum in Stockholm.

Carl Westman was Sweden’s most prominent architect and interior designer of the 1910s and 1920s. His most famous work is Stockholm Town Hall (1911-15) and Röhsska Museum in Gothenburg (1910-14).
