Adorable ceramic horse figurine by Stig Lindberg, called “Springare”, meaning “Steed”. The stylized horse is painted with a brown and polkadot pattern over the body.
The story goes that at the first Studio exhibition of “Springare”, a cavalry officer was present. He contemplated the horse for a long time, becoming increasingly provoked. Finally, he exclaimed: “It looks nothing like a horse – yet it is the horsiest horse I have ever seen!”. This is a fine illustration of Lindberg’s great skill, through which he was able to capture the essence of a horse in this whimsical manner.
