Lounge chair by Alf Svensson for Ljungs industries, later known as DUX, made in the 1950s. Black lacquered steel frame with removable cushions upholstered in luxurious cognac colored leather.
This model was first introduced at the iconic international exhibition for architecture and design, H55, in Helsingborg in 1955. They represent a new style of furniture that emerged along with TV culture, inspired by American furniture and architecture, which changed the way people furnished their homes. This model became serially produced with a wooden frame and these metal ones are a very rare find.

Alf Svensson was creative director at Bergboms, a Swedish lighting firm that manufactured both own designs and – thanks to Svensson’s international connections – those of international designers such as Greta Grossman and Edward Wormley.
He was also creative director at the furniture company Ljungs industrier, later known as DUX, which Bergboms was tied to. Alf Svensson was an architect with sure instinct for new trends which can be seen in his own designs as well as in those of the designers Bergboms collaborated with.
