Stunning rosewood desk by Carl Hörvik, commissioned by and made for the Stockholm Exhibition in 1930 and an outstanding example of that period’s luxurious functionalism. The top opens up to reveal a turquoise velvet clad space originally designed to store a typewriter. The drawers, which are painted turquoise on the inside, have a vertical wooden bar as a locking mechanism. The feet of the desk are turned outwards, giving a spirited feel to the strict, angular design. The dedication to beauty, function and detail make this an exceptional piece of furniture, that can be used as a desk or striking sideboard.
