Beautiful pewter box from Herman Bergman, adorned with a strict pewter rectangle on top. A dramatic scene with centaurs, a warrior and a woman with a baby is depicted on the sides. Beautiful execution.

The images depicted are from the Bassai (sometimes spelled Bassae) Frieze, which was originally a part of the Temple of Apollo Epikourios at Bassai, in Greece. The frieze is now on display at the British Museum and depicts a fight between the Greeks and Amazons, against the Centaurs and Lapiths. The lady with baby was depicted on the West frieze.
