GAB was founded in Stockholm in 1867 and was an important influence on the Swedish art and crafts and industrial design scenes for more than a century. Jakob Ängman, a major reformer of Swedish silver smithery and an accomplished craftsman, was its creative director from 1907 to 1942. At GAB, he developed a style that combined the unique characteristics of 1920s classism and 1930s functionalism.
